SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO)–A dry forecast is ahead for this Labor Day across KELOLAND. Temperatures will remain cooler in the east, but hot weather and fire weather concerns will dominate the west.

A Red Flag Warning has been posted this afternoon through tomorrow night for many areas West River. This warning includes Rapid City. Hot temperatures, low humidity values, and strong southerly winds will all contribute to this Red Flag Warning.

On futurecast, we see a big differences in temperatures today with 90s likely west, with only 70s in far eastern KELOLAND. Expect a similar trend tomorrow, with 90s widespread in central and western South Dakota. Meanwhile, Sioux Falls will warm into the lower 80s.

A cold front will be on the move by Wednesday, offering a chance of scattered rain potential in the region. It remains uncertain how much moisture this front will have to work with as it moves into northern plains. Therefore, we’ll maintain 20% to 30% chances of showers and thunderstorms starting Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning from west to east.

Here’s a closer look at your forecast.

Notice the cooler weather at the end of the week. Highs in the 70s look likely for much of KELOLAND.
