Deerfield Township Firefighters responded to a residence fire Wednesday afternoon after the homeowner attempted to extinguish the flames by themselves. Fire officials said a gas line caught fire outside before the flames spread inside the residence in the 8100-block of Summer View Drive. Firefighters on scene said that the homeowner was fighting the fire before crews arrived on scene.Officials said luckily no injuries were reported. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze with only some damage to the side of the house.Neighbors said Duke Energy crews came out to shut off the gas to the home.
