The now-regular summer occurrence of devastating wildfire events that wipe out whole areas and communities is heartbreaking. Summer, the time of year I looked forward to most as a child, has become the time I fear the most, always on edge about what weather/climate-fueled disaster will happen next. Who else will lose their home due to fire and what national natural treasure will be forever damaged or destroyed?

The worsening levels of heat, drought and wildfires are in large part due to man-made changes in climate.

But we can do something to help reverse course and get our CO2 levels down. The Senate passed the Inflation Reduction Act. In this bill is a provision that could achieve 40% emissions reductions by 2030. That would get us within range of the Paris Agreement.
