BROOKVILLE, Ind. — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is conducting a federal search warrant on the home of Rodney Grubbs, the FBI confirmed to WXIN/WTTV on Wednesday.
Grubbs is the former owner of the now-defunct Pickleball Rocks, a business that swindled pickleball players out of millions of dollars, asking them to invest in gear and real estate.
According to previous reports, Grubbs was named an ambassador by USA Pickleball. He was notorious for his approachable attitude and offering of “limited investment opportunities” with up to 12% or more annual investment returns.
However, Grubbs never paid his investors back the millions of dollars he owed them. This resulted in Pickleball Rocks going bankrupt and Grubbs falling into over $47 million in debt.
At the time of this article’s publication, the FBI has not yet stated the cause of their investigation, nor what they have found in their search of Grubbs’ home.
However, the FBI is seeking victim information for the investigation. They have provided a form that victims of Grubbs’ scams can fill out, or for citizens to complete with relevant information.
This is a developing story. FOX59/CBS4 will provide more updates once they are made available.
