INDIANAPOLIS — A Beech Grove family is continuing to seek answers one year after 18-year-old Jersie Castner was shot and killed on the near east side of Indianapolis.
The family of Castner gathered in Beech Grove’s Sarah Bolton Park Sunday to remember the teenager’s legacy on the one-year anniversary of her death.
On April 14, 2023, Castner was shot to death during a home invasion in the 3500 block of Brookside Parkway South Drive. Although detectives have identified several suspects throughout the investigation, no arrests have been made.
According to previous reports, officers were called to the area around 4:20 a.m. where they found Castner and 33-year-old Jessica Cruz, who was also pronounced dead at the scene. A teenage boy was also injured in the shooting.
For Castner’s family, their strength continues to be tested every week that passes despite the case remaining unsolved.
Despite their heartbreak over the tragedy, Castner’s uncle, Dale Kord, said the family remains committed to being strong as investigators continue to search for the person or group of people responsible.
”It’s very important. That’s why I got everybody together today to celebrate her and make sure we search for answers and hope for answers,” said Kord.
Anyone with information about Caster’s shooting death on Brookside Parkway South Drive is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS (8477). Tipsters could receive up to $1,000 as a reward for providing any information that leads to a potential arrest.
