INDIANAPOLIS – Crews responded Friday morning to a fire on the near north side.

The Indianapolis Fire Department was dispatched around 5:30 a.m. to the 3100 block of Graceland Avenue. That’s near North Capitol Avenue and West 30th Street.

Images from the scene showed several units responded. Flames and smoke were visible coming from the second story, with a ladder truck spraying water on the structure.

IFD characterized the fire as “significant” and said it started in one structure before spreading to another one nearby.

Both homes were occupied, IFD said, but no one was hurt. The Red Cross has been called to help the displaced residents.

The cause remains under investigation.
