TEA, S.D. (KELO) – If you’ve ever wanted to take a look inside some of the new houses being built around Sioux Falls — now is your chance. The 2024 Fall Parade of Homes kicks off this weekend from the Home Builder’s Association of the Sioux Empire.
A 5,600 square foot house just west of Tea is one of the highlights of this year’s Fall Parade of Homes. It was built by Jeren Homes with a lot of personal touches from the homeowners.
“You know, there’s so many features in this house. We did things such as, our fireplace here we did a vinyl wrap on it and made it look like steel,” Craig Wynia, a project manager for Jeren Homes, said. “We got vinyl wrap wall in the master bedroom. We’ve got wood accents everywhere, custom beamwork, custom wet bar in the lower level.”
Wynia says he’s looking forward to everyone seeing the house this weekend.
“It’s fun for me to share my knowledge with them of how the building process went, the details of the house and just everything about the process,” Wynia said.
The Parade of Homes gives people the opportunity to see the latest trends in the building industry.
Wynia says when it comes to the housing market and the industry in general, things are looking up.
“You know, interest rates over the last year were a little bit on the higher side and I think that scared some buyers away,” Wynia said. “But recently with the Feds announcing some of the interest rate drops, I think that’s brought a lot of the clients back around and brought them back into the market.”
He says the building industry is still dealing with some worker shortages but other areas are seeing some gains.
“As for material and the shortages that we experienced back in 2020, 2021, those have gone pretty much away where materials are pretty much readily available again,” Wynia said.
And with those positives, Wynia and his crew are looking forward to a busy 2025 and building more houses like this one.
The Fall Parade of Homes has nearly 50 houses on display from 30 different builders. It runs from 1 to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday of this weekend and next weekend.
