Former Vice President Dick Cheney has cut an ad for embattled Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), saying he’s “so proud” of his daughter and her mission to make sure “Donald Trump is never again near the Oval Office.”

As the younger Cheney faces long odds in an Aug. 16 Republican primary, she got a heartwarming boost from her dad, who is one of the best-known names in Wyoming politics.

“Lynn and I are so proud of Liz for standing up for the truth. doing what’s right, honoring her oath to the Constitution,” said Dick Cheney, referring to his wife.

“Liz is fearless,” he added. “She never backs down from a fight.”

Trump has made defeating Liz Cheney a top goal since she joined nine other House Republicans in voting to impeach him for inciting the insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. She further infuriated him by becoming vice chair of the House committee investigating the riot.

Dick Cheney, who held his daughter’s seat before serving in President George W. Bush’s administration, struck an uncharacteristically warm and fuzzy note when delivering the all-in-the-family endorsement.

“I proudly voted for my daughter, Liz Cheney. I hope you will too,” he said, wearing a cowboy hat.

But the elder Cheney also showed off his trademark gruff side when he trained his ire on Trump.

“There has never been an individual who has been a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” said Dick Cheney, who once relished the derisive “Darth Vader” nickname that liberals gave him. “He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence after he was rejected by the voters.”

“He’s a coward,” the ex-veep continued. “A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters.”

Once a rising conservative star, Liz Cheney was ousted from her Republican leadership post and dumped by her party for criticizing Trump.

Polls say Liz Cheney is trailing badly in her primary fight against a onetime ally, state Sen. Harriet Hageman.

Liz Cheney has teased a potential presidential campaign if she loses the primary, a run that could potentially siphon some Republican votes away from Trump if he makes a comeback run for the White House as expected.
