CHICAGO – Dem Gov. Tony Evers said Barack Obama-like energy in Wisconsin via the candidacy of Kamala Harris will help Dems in November, but winning the Assembly will require more than excitement at the top of the ticket.

‘’There’s no question, the people are fired up…They’re fired up like I’ve never seen before,’’ Evers said. “So it’s all about making sure that they take that energy back home, knock on doors, do all this stuff that is really hard work, and we’ll see. I honestly believe that we’re going to have more help with younger people than we ever had before, and that’s a really important thing for us.’’

Assembly Dems are running under new Evers-signed maps, giving them a chance to take control of the chamber. Dems are fielding candidates in 97 of 99 districts.

‘’I think it’s a two-way street. It’s not just that she will help them because she’s got great popularity, and she’s a great candidate. But you know, we have the most number of Democrats running ever in our state’s history. They will help her too. It’s going to be a two-way street.’’
