SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Lisa Tiensvold owns Golden Leaf Estate Sales, and this weekend’s sale is a doozy.
“We never count how many but would say at least ten thousand items we’ve priced,” said Tiensvold.
Not every day you see three iron plows in a yard in the middle of Sioux Falls.
This home on Lyndale Avenue belonged to a husband and wife who had fun collecting things, he’s gone and she is moving to an apartment. Now, Tiensvold is helping the owner move on.
“She and her husband were great collectors,” said Tiensvold.
This estate sale features, every thing from bowling balls, to duck decoys to antiques galore. You can find estate sales every weekend all over KELOLAND.
For Buyers like Rosie VanBuren and Thomas Peper it’s just plain fun.
“I consider myself the queen of estate sales. I don’t know I just love going to estate sales, I love to see how other people live and what they collect we are kind of collectors so we enjoy it. I go to just about everyone I can,” said VanBuren.
Tiensvold says she has all the work she can handle because many younger people aren’t interested in keeping items collected by their parents.
“We get many calls to do estate sales, and we say it takes at least three weeks to price everything because we look it up and we know what it sells for, then we price it less than that, but again, every piece in here was so unique,” said Tiensvold.
For those who’ve never attended an estate sale, Tiensvold says consider it a form of entertainment, you don’t have to buy anything but chances are, something will catch your eye.
“I call it history and mystery, and that’s what we do all the time,” said Tiensvold.
The sale at 2608 South Lyndale takes place Saturday from 9 to 4 pm and Sunday from 12 to 4 pm. For more information, visit the Golden Leaf Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/GoldenLeafEstateSales/
