Perhaps this is the best place to start with Nolan Smith:

That Smith is viewed in such high regard should not be a surprise. Coming out of IMG Academy, Smith was a five-star recruit and graded as the top player in the nation for 247Sports in the 2019 recruiting cycle, and immediately saw the field for the Bulldogs. He played in all 14 games for Georgia in the 2019 season, recording 18 total tackles, 15 quarterback pressures and 2.5 sacks.

During the 2020 season, Smith saw his first starting action for Georgia. He played in all ten of the Bulldogs’ games, recording 22 total tackles, 20 quarterback pressures, and another 2.5 sacks.

This past season, Smith was part of one of the nation’s best defenses, a unit that saw five players go in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. Smith recorded career-high numbers in total tackles (53), tackles for a loss (8) and sacks (4.5).

With the talent that has left for the NFL, Smith is expected to take on a bigger role in 2022. If he builds on his first three years on campus, he will live up to some of these preseason expectations.
