When you talk about cutting back, to some families, that may be this summer’s family vacation or the difference between a name brand or off-brand cereal.For one Anderson Township family, it’s the difference between food on the table or a place to live. “We have 20 days right now to move out—and it just everything…bills going unpaid,” said Tammy Layne.Their landlord is selling their home, leaving them to find a place to move a family of four including four birds and two dogs.”Landlord sold the house because it’s a buyer-seller market, and we have found no place to go which used to be a very easy market to do,” said Tammy Layne.This family of four fell on hard times right before the inflation, then when the price of food and gas went up, it only made it harder.”You’re trying to take here and put it here but when here is smaller than here. You do the best you can,” Gregg Layne said, expressing his sadness in not being able to provide for his family.His cancer treatments have put him on disability. This year will be his second round of cancer treatments in four years.”It’s not their responsibility to worry about the bills, the cancer anything bad, I want them to be happy,” he said. A waterworks bill more than four months past due.”So we’re deducting from other bills just to keep everyone fed,” Tammy Layne said.An electric bill jumped from $250 to $400.”The gas, the water, the utilities, cell phone, cable, food, it’s gone up triple. I mean we do get food stamps but that doesn’t feed a family of four,” said Tammy Layne.Yet the Layne family shares a message of hope for everyone going through tough times, saying their faith in God is what has and will get them through. “Hang on because this is a time and this is season. We will get through it. It looks very dark right now but keep praying, keep believing things will turn around,” she said.
