PLAINFIELD, Ind. — Following the delays, closures, outages and damages that occurred Friday due to Hurricane Helene, Duke Energy said on Saturday that they have restored power to over 62,000 of their Indiana customers.
According to Duke, more than 70,000 people were affected by the outages. They ended up making strong progress on restoring service overnight. As of 12:46p.m. on Saturday, just over 5,000 Indiana customers are without power.
Duke said they are still determining the full scope of damage, but over 25 of their Indiana operation centers were affected by high winds and heavy rain. This led multiple power lines to come down and damaged infrastructure in several parts of Indiana.
Duke Energy added that they will provide more updates, including estimated times of restoration, once they gather enough information and assess all of the damages.
