SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —It is a special week for lovers of food in Downtown Sioux Falls.
At Harvester Kitchen and 20 other restaurants in Sioux falls, staff are gearing up for Restaurant Week.
“The whole intent of Restaurant Week is really getting people out. You know, it’s the perfect time of year because winter’s kind of going away. It’s getting a bit warmer. So people are ready to get out of the house and go to dinner somewhere,” Chef Patron at Harvester Kitchen, Bryan Moscatello said.
Many of the dishes created for this week are using locally sourced ingredients.
“South Dakota is really a farming state,” DTSF marketing manager Jeb Cooper said. “That shows through in our local restaurants here in downtown Sioux Falls. A lot of the chefs and a lot of the restaurants are really focused on sustainability and trying to keep ingredients local wherever possible.”
This inspired Moscatello to re-label his chef’s tasting menu to “Rooted in Sioux Falls.”
“We’re featuring pork tenderloin as well as walleye pike,” Moscatello said. “We picked ingredients that really are rooted in Sioux Falls. You know, you go here from most places, serve these things or most of these things. And then we’re going to finish with the Scotcharoo.”
The chefs are bringing in all the ingredients for great food, while also supporting the local economy.
“It really just increases foot traffic in all of these restaurants,” Cooper said. “We hope, you know, that people coming down to experience the food and the culinary scene, also stop in some of our local retail shops, and see how great the downtown area really is.”
