SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Dry skies this weekend will most likely continue for the next several weeks. Here us a look at the extended forecast.
With the drought monitor expanding across KELOLAND, we could use rain. Unfortunately, it will be hard to find.
As the sun continues to shine and temperatures remain well above average, the landscape in South Dakota is quickly turning brown as things continue to dry down. If you’re looking for rain, don’t expect any anytime soon.
As the remnants of Helene slowly move through the eastern United States this weekend it slows down our weather, so we’ll will continue with dry skies and warm temperatures.
But by next week, we’ll see things move along. And we’ll get a change in our weather with cooler air by Tuesday. Even though we’ll warm above average after Tuesday, it won’t be as warm as what we just went through.
The cooler air won’t help for better chances for rain either as the extended forecast for October is for below average precipitation. Dry conditions should not only be expected for KELOLAND, but for many in the central and northern plains.
Dare I even mention snow? October is the month when many of us get our first measurable snowfall. With how dry it’s been, moisture in any form may be welcomed.
