INDIANAPOLIS — A man is behind bars facing a felony charge after being accused of randomly attacking a woman this week at a north side Target and then fighting her boyfriend by the cash registers.
Timone Hall, a 37-year-old Indy man, was arrested Monday by IMPD and subsequently charged with two counts of battery. The charges stem from a reported fight at a north side Target.
IMPD crews were called to the Target in the 1300 block of E. 86th Street for a fight between two men that started after one of the men knocked a woman unconscious while she was standing in the checkout line. Upon arrival, they found Hall profusely sweating and bleeding near the entrance.
Officers spoke with one of the victims, a woman who said she’d been knocked unconscious after Hall randomly hit her in the head with a closed fist. This caused the other victim – the woman’s boyfriend – to begin defending himself against Hall.
The boyfriend said he did not know who Hall was or why he had attacked his girlfriend. He said immediately after his girlfriend was hit he grabbed Hall, tackled him to the ground and began exchanging blows. The man reportedly had a bloodied, cut up face and was vomiting on himself by the time police arrived.
Police said the boyfriend explained how after their initial fight, Hall got up and tried to walk out of the entrance. The boyfriend then reportedly stood up and tried to make Hall wait for police to arrive, but ended up fighting with him again in front of guest services.
Both victims of Hall’s attack said that they did not really remember exactly what happened and reported having pain in their heads.
IMPD said officers then spoke with Target employees who’d witnessed the incident. One employee described how Hall had “seemingly randomly attacked” the woman, causing the boyfriend to retaliate. Another employee told police that security footage shows Hall hit the woman on the head “for no apparent reason.”
Police then spoke with Hall, who was read his Miranda Rights and reportedly agreed to speak with officers. The suspect explained that he has “recently felt like people were following him and out to get him.” Hall reportedly told officers that he has schizophrenia and is suicidal.
Hall allegedly told officers that he did not know what happened or what had caused the fight. Police said he was “unable to provide anything further reference the fight.”
IMPD said that the two victims were taken to St. Vincent for suspected concussions and treatment for various other injuries. Meanwhile, Hall was taken to Eskenazi Hospital and received stitches in his face and head.
After being cleared from Eskenazi, IMPD officers took Hall into custody. He was later booked into the Marion County Jail and preliminarily charged with battery and battery causing serious bodily injury. An initial hearing in Hall’s case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Online court records show that Hall has an extensive criminal history in Marion County. Since 2014, Hall has been charged with theft, criminal conversion, resisting law enforcement (twice), criminal trespass (twice), possession of a controlled substance and battery.
