DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — Charges have been filed in relation to a 2023 Delaware County crash that caused the death of an Anderson woman.

According to court documents filed earlier this month in Delaware County, Tatyana Meyers, a Georgia resident, has been charged with one count of causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a schedule I or II controlled substance in the blood, a Level 4 felony.

On March 24, 2023, troopers with the Indiana State Police responded to a crash with entrapment on S U.S. 35 near County Road 534 East in Delaware County. According to the court documents, two vehicles were involved in the crash — a white van driven by Meyers and a grey vehicle driven by 38-year-old Tiffany Starkey.

At the time, witnesses reportedly told troopers that the crash occurred on a curve on U.S. 35 when it was raining. The documents said that the van appeared to drive straight through the curve, hitting the grey vehicle head-on.

Meyers reportedly told troopers at the time that she felt that the van lost traction due to the water on the road. The documents said that Meyers “overcorrected,” causing her to hit the grey vehicle head-on at around 55 mph.

Starkey was extricated from the grey vehicle and taken to a hospital. Starkey was later pronounced dead and was found to have died “as a result of multiple blunt force injuries.”

The documents said that Meyers took a blood test after the crash. The test reportedly revealed that she had Delta-9 Carboxy THC and Delta-9 THC in her system at the time of the crash.
