ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson man has been charged after he reportedly stabbed and killed his brother during an argument over money in late October.

According to court documents filed Wednesday in Madison Circuit Court by Anderson police, 21-year-old Caleb Ingram was charged with murder after the reported stabbing at an Anderson home in late October.

At around 11:49 p.m. on Oct. 30, officers responded to a home in the 2500 block of E. Second St. on reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, a man, later identified as Ingram, met them at the door and directed them upstairs.

In the home, officers reportedly found a man, later identified as 22-year-old William Henry Ingram IV, who appeared to have a knife wound to the left side of his neck. William Henry Ingram IV was taken to a local hospital and was later pronounced dead.

The documents said that Caleb Ingram was also taken to the hospital for “possible medical treatment” because he reportedly had a “large amount of blood on him.” After the blood was cleaned off of him, there were reportedly no injuries. Caleb Ingram stated he would wait for an attorney before he spoke with police.

In an interview with the parents of both individuals, they reportedly told police that William Henry Ingram IV and Caleb Ingram did “get into altercations” but they had never seen them be physical against each other.

During an investigation of the house, investigators found bloody barefoot prints, as well as blood located throughout the hallway, in a bedroom and in a bathroom. The documents stated that a small to medium-sized orange kitchen knife was reportedly found outside of Caleb Ingram’s bedroom.

Officers also investigated body camera footage from the officers who initially responded to the stabbing. The documents said that Caleb Ingram told officers that William Henry Ingram IV “spent some money that [Caleb Ingram] was going to spend on [his] girlfriend.”

“I just took it to heart,” Caleb Ingram said, according to the documents.

In the patrol car, Caleb Ingram reportedly made additional statements while talking to himself alone in the car, including:

“Jesus please let him live. Jesus, I’m sorry. I won’t ever talk bad about him no more,” he said. “…I don’t want my brother to die. I don’t want to be like Cain… I’ve got a future, I can’t go to jail. $10 dollars, you’re going to get mad at him for $10 dollars?

“William, I’m so sorry,” Caleb Ingram continued. “…I love you so much. Please let him live. I’m so sorry. I will never pick up another knife.”

As Caleb Ingram was in the interview room, he reportedly asked police for the status of his brother in the hospital “several times.” When he was told that his brother did not survive, the documents said that Caleb Ingram’s “legs… went limp [and] he went to the floor and began breathing heavily.”

An initial hearing in this case occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Madison Circuit Court.
