MADISON, Wis. – Attorney General Josh Kaul issued the following statement today after joining a coalition of 19 attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against President Donald Trump, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, the federal Election Assistance Commission, and other Trump Administration officials over Executive Order No. 14248 (the Elections Executive Order), an unconstitutional, antidemocratic, and un-American attempt to upend common-sense, well-established state procedures for counting ballots.

“Permitting Donald Trump to take vast power over how states run their elections would open the door to catastrophic consequences for our democracy,” said AG Kaul. “The courts should block this unconstitutional power grab.”
