WISCONSIN – As votes continue to be tallied and finalized from around the state, the board members of the Democracy Defense Project – Wisconsin applaud election officials for conducting a smooth election and addressing the rare errors in a timely, bipartisan manner. The board, including former Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, former Attorney General JB Van Hollen, former U.S. Representative Scott Klug and former Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate, released the following statement:
“Last night, we saw firsthand Wisconsin’s election processes are safe, secure, and transparent. Congratulations to election administrators for overseeing a successful election and addressing all challenges quickly and effectively.
This state is no stranger to close elections, and with statewide Supreme Court elections in just 5 short months. We need to continue to be vigilant, support election officials and educate the public on the steps being taken to ensure our elections are fair. The Democracy Defense Project will continue to be that voice in Wisconsin, and we look forward to working together in a bipartisan manner to continue rebuilding trust in Wisconsin elections.”
