PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — The South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) announced that $64,768,104 in grants and loans had been approved Thursday for drinking water, wastewater, storm water and solid waste projects in South Dakota.

The total amount consists of $768,000 in grants and $64,000,104 in low-interest loans. This also includes $16,169,000 in principal forgiveness to be administered by the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

“Safe and reliable water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure help protect our environment and strengthen communities for our kids and grandkids,” said DANR Secretary Hunter Roberts.

Funds were awarded to the following cities: Britton, Central City, Chamberlain, Deadwood, Grant-Roberts Rural Water System, Ipswich, Joint Well Field for Kingbrook Rural Water System and Brookings-Deuel Rural Water System), Madison, Meadow Crest Sanitary District for Wessington Springs, Miller, Northville, Powder House Pass Community Improvement District, Sioux Falls, Southeast Council of Governments, Southern Missouri Recycling and Waste Management District, Wessington Springs, West River/Lyman Jones Rural Water System and Weston Heights Sanitary District.

Funds were awarded from DANR’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program, Clean Water State Revolving Fund Program, Solid Waste Management Program, Consolidated Water Facilities Construction Program and the Water Environment Fund.
