MANILA, Philippines—Creamline star Tots Carlos claimed her third MVP award in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.
Carlos matched her injured teammate Alyssa Valdez with the most number of MVP plums in the league after stepping up big time in the absence of the Cool Smashers captain, who is still recuperating from a right knee injury.
After winning three best opposite spiker awards, the University of the Philippines standout thrived in her new position as an open spiker as she was also named the 1st Best Outside Hitter.
Carlos, who won the first conference MVP for the second straight season, finished sixth in scoring during the elimination round with a total of 111 points. She was No. 2 in attacks with a 37.21% spiking rate, third in the service department with 0.36 aces per set, and fifth Best Receiver with a 38.37% efficiency.
Carlos’ teammate, Jema Galanza was the 2nd Best Outside Spiker of the conference as the ninth-best scorer with 105 points in the elims, third-best attacker with a 36.40% spike efficiency, and seventh-best receiver with a 37.80% receiving rate.

Jia De Guzman won her eighth Best Setter award after topping the race in the eliminations with 7.32 excellent sets per frame. She was also the Best Server of the first round with 0.46 aces per set.
Michele Gumabao won the Best Opposite Spiker after emerging as the Top 8 scorer in the elimination round with 110 points. She was the top spiker with a 40.43% attacking rate, while ninth in blocking with 0.43 blocks per set.
Four Cool Smashers received individual awards.
Petro Gazz pair Remy Palma and MJ Phillips were the Best Middle Blockers of the conference. Palma was the second best blocker during the elimination with 0.70 blocks per set, while Phillips was fourth with 0.67 blocks per frame as both helped the Angels reach its second straight All-Filipino Finals.
Kath Arado was hailed as the Best Libero, emerging as the Best Digger and Best Receiver in the eliminations with 6.80 digs per set and a 63.86% efficiency rate in the eight-game elimination.
It was Arado’s second PVL Best Libero award since the 2021 bubble tournament.
All the individual awards will be handed out after the conclusion of the Creamline-Petro Gazz finals series on Thursday.
