SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s a good weekend to do some shopping in Sioux Falls.
Many stores in town are hosting crazy days sales.
You’ve Been Framed owner Tamara Dettler is hoping for an influx of shoppers at her store at The Bridges at 57th Street.
“Saturday is typically our busy day, so we are expecting a big crowd tomorrow,” Dettler said.
Shoppers will also find crazy days sales in downtown Sioux Falls.
Terra Shepherd Boutique and Apothecary owner Sara Jamison is marking down items to make way for fall.
“We’re just trying to move some great inventory after an especially slow season,” Jamison said.
Jamison says traffic in the store has been down.
“Normally, our summer months rival our holiday months in terms of traffic and that just hasn’t been the case this year for Terra Shepherd and so many other small businesses downtown,’ Jamison said.
You’ve Been Framed, Dettler has also noticed a slide.
“I would say each year we have been down since COVID. The first year after COVID was strong because people were very intentional, trying to keep the small businesses alive. So we have just kind of ’21, ’22, seen the traffic count go down. I just think buying habits are different and where they buy,” Dettler said.
Despite the challenges facing business owners, Jamison is optimistic.
“Those dips and lows are definitely hard but I’m confident we can rebound and continue to serve our community,” Jamison said.
If you can’t make it out to the stores, there are other ways you can help small businesses such as sharing their social media posts.
“We do have a website that is shoppable, so even telling their friends out of state,” Dettler said.
And all of that support can make a difference.
Lake Lorraine will also have deals for crazy days.
