SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A man charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering a woman in 2020 is competent to stand trial.
In court Wednesday morning, a judge said Amir Beaudion Jr. will be able to assist his attorneys in his case and understand court proceedings.
In court, a psychiatrist took the stand and said Beaudion was schizophrenic in October of 2023. After a year of anti-psychotic medication, the witness said Beaudion’s behavior had improved significantly. He was organized and able to fully answer questions.
Investigators say Beaudion Jr. kidnapped a woman in an east Sioux Falls Walmart parking lot in 2020 before raping and killing her. He then allegedly dumped her body in rural Lincoln County.
