SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — While we are just getting out of one of our recent cold snaps, we’ll soon get back into another one. Before then, warm temperatures can be expected through Friday. But we’ll soon return to temperatures below zero in KELOLAND, which is typical for January.

This is a look at where we are at so far for overnight lows below zero. Keep in mind we’re halfway through the month, but we’ve already had 10 days with below zero lows in Aberdeen and 9 in Watertown. That’s quite impressive considering the lack of snow cover for many of these days.

Sioux Falls has only had 3 days with below zero lows. So far, we are behind our pace of the average of 11 days for the whole month.

Rapid City and Yankton are absent from the list because they haven’t fallen below zero yet. Notice I said ‘yet’, as I do expect all of KELOLAND to fall below zero late this weekend and early next week.
