SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We are about two months away from construction wrapping up on a new parking ramp and terminal addition at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport.

It won’t be long before travelers can use the parking ramp and skywalk. Executive director Dan Letellier is pleased with the progress crews are making.

“We started construction in April of last year and we’re still on track for the parking garage itself to be completed mid September,” Letellier said.

Workers are putting the finishing touches on the fourth level of the parking garage and plugging away at the exterior lighting. The terminal addition is also starting to take shape.

“We have elevators being installed, escalators will be starting to be installed here fairly soon in the terminal additions,” Letellier said.

The project should make the travel experience much more convenient, especially in the winter months.

“In the instance we would need to park a vehicle here overnight. It would be very helpful,” Carolina Proudfoot said.

“This is going to be a big improvement for those people now to be able to go right across from the skyway, right into the parking garage and not even have to go out in the snow,” Letellier said.

For Lettelier, he is ready to see the project come to fruition.

“This is a project that we’ve been really focused on, numerous planning sessions designed for the last ten years to get to this point. We’re really excited that we’re near the finish line,” Letellier said.

“We will be looking forward for there not being construction anymore, for sure,” Proudfoot said.

Crews have also made progress on the asphalt around the parking garage and the drywall and electrical work in the lobby.
