SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — If you ask people what they wish their superpower was, the ability to fly would be a common answer. One Sioux Falls man is making that wish a reality.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Trevor Hartz paramotoring through the sky.

“It’s a motor strapped to a harness, and it propels you under a wing and gets you off the ground and being able to fly up into the air,” 605 Paramotor owner Trevor Hartz said.

“It’s like combining airplanes and motorcycles,” completed training with 605 Paramotor, Jeremy Berendsen said.

After learning how to paramotor in Texas, Hartz came back to South Dakota and realized a lot of people were interested in the sport.

“So I went back down to Texas, got my instructor’s license, came back, came back up to Sioux Falls, and now here I am teaching people,” Hartz said.

People like Jeremy Berendsen. While he has his commercial pilot’s license, he wanted to experience flying in a new way.

“Once I found out that we were going to have a local training, I decided that this is something that well, I’m going to do this now. So I called Trevor up. This is back in January. And it’s like, hey, you got a student,” Berendsen said.

As people and their aspirations soar to new heights.

“Before you know it, your feet are off the ground and things are getting smaller. It’s just a wild experience,” Berendsen said.

“Everything that’s bothering you in life, everything that’s on your every day-to-day shoulder situation, stressing you out, the second you’re an inch off the ground, you are free as a bird,” Hartz said.
