INDIANAPOLIS – The final step in DeForest Buckner’s return from an ankle injury has been taken.

The Indianapolis Colts activated their veteran defensive tackle from the injured reserve list, and he’ll be available for Sunday’s road test against the Houston Texans.

Linebacker Cameron McGrone, a Lawrence Central H.S. product, also was active from IR.

In corresponding moves, the Colts placed rookie linebacker Jaylon Carlies on IR with a fibula injury and waived running back Evan Hull. Also, cornerback Kelvin Joseph was elevated to the active roster from the practice squad.

Buckner has missed the past five games after suffering a high sprain to his right ankle in the week 2 loss at Green Bay. Even though he might be on a “pitch count’’ against the Texans, he should provide a significant boost.
