SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Cold and wind on the way…
The timing of a cold front will be the driver behind high temperatures today. Expect highs early this morning before much colder air comes in riding STRONG northerly winds.
By the afternoon, temperatures will be falling as winds will be gusting to 40 mph and more. The colder air may squeeze out a couple of flurries, but moisture remains limited.
WIND ADVISORIES cover central and eastern KELOLAND as gusts will reach 40 mph and more.
Winds will die down during the evening and overnight. Lows will fall to near zero in eastern KELOLAND.
As northwest flow continues tomorrow, flurries will be possible. It will be a cold afternoon with highs in the teens in eastern KELOLAND to the 30s in western South Dakota.
The cold will slowly leave just in time for the weekend. Temperatures will warm to the 40s, 50s, and 60s for Saturday. Sunday’s highs will reach the 40s and 50s.
Another hit of cold will arrive early next week. Along with it, scattered flurries or snow showers will be possible, but (again) moisture is limited.
