Rapid City, S.D. (KELO) — The Black Hills offer a wide variety of local breweries, and Cohort Craft Brewery has seen a lot of success over the past four years.
Now, they’re expanding into Hill City.
A wide selection of craft brews, a food truck, and a friendly atmosphere have helped Cohort Craft Brewery grow.
“So the first thing is our location, like we cater to southsiders 100%. You know, on any given night I know 80% of the people in here which makes me feel really good because it’s that repeat customer base that shows that you’re doing something right,” Cohort Craft Brewery Owner Jason Kingsbury said.
Cohort has been serving up craft brews since 2021, with a laid back and fun culture that keeps people coming back.
This growth for Cohort Craft Brewery has been organic over the past four years. As they’ve become a staple on the south side of Rapid City. They also have several of their beers in about a dozen different locations around Rapid City and the Black Hills, and very soon that expansion will continue into Hill City.
While success has happened organically, Kingsbury credits everyone inside the building for this growth.
“The purchase of Cohort Black Hills wouldn’t have happened without my quality staff, would not have happened. Because I have consistent staff, staff people love. And the other part of that is the local component, is our customer base. Where we are able to take the same ethos that we have here at 5th Street, and we can take that same ethos down to Hill City,” Kingsbury said.
Cohort Black Hills will be taking over the former Miner Brewery Company off of Highway 385 just as you enter Hill City.
There is no set date for Cohort Black Hills to open in Hill City, but Kingsbury said anyone planning to be in the area this summer can expect it soon.
