SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — From Winter Wonderland to summer travel, more than a million people pass through Falls Parks each year.

Now, the popular park is part of a larger designated downtown area.

“Falls Park is the namesake of our city, and as it has changed over time, Falls Park has too,” Sioux Falls Officer of Communications and Culture Allie Hartzler said.

On Wednesday, the City of Sioux Falls announced the launch of The Falls, the new branding for a cluster of attractions in the area.

In addition to the park, The Falls includes the Levitt Shell, the River Greenway, Lloyd Landing, and Jacobson Plaza.

“We want to make sure residents can easily find and discover all the awesome things our downtown parks have to offer,” Hartzler said.

The new branding comes with new signs and light pole banners.

“This logo embodies the heart of our city, our waterfalls,” Hartzler said.

The new branding comes as the city invites the public to an open house Thursday for the Falls Park Master Plan.

The plan is aimed at guiding development in the area for the next 30-50 years.

“We want to create a world-class signature park that attracts visitors from afar and remains a local beloved destination,” Sioux Falls Park Development Manager Mike Patten said.

The open house is Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Startup Sioux Falls.
