SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — City Council met today to discuss the reauthorization of a property tax refund.
City Council says they will vote in favor of the refund, which is available for certain elderly and disabled people.
“Our property tax refund, we annually give our blessing for seniors and the disabled. It was brought about a few years ago. Myself and Councilor Starr thought it was appropriate to do some tax relief for those people that really need it, the property taxes,” said City Councilor Curt Soehl.
People 65 and older or those with a disability as defined by the Social Security Act are eligible to apply for the refund. Requirements also include property value being less than 345,340 dollars.
