Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval and City Manager John Curp have recommended their budget for the 2023 fiscal year.
“This budget, it’s a reflection of our values and priorities,” Mayor Pureval said in a press release. “I am proud of the amazing work from so many that has gone into this. We have listened to the community, we have worked together with Council to establish clear priorities and goals, and the Administration and I are confident that the budget embodies and executes on those goals.”
Mayor Pureval and Curp are branding the budget as “VISIONNATI”.

Included in the operating budget is funding for:
- 100 new firefighter recruits and 88 police recruits
- Unarmed mental health professionals to respond to non-violent 911 calls
- $1 million in youth employment and a new career pathway initiative
- $25,000 additional money for arts programs
- A 1.6% increase in money for human services
- $1 million to support the childcare provider workforce
- $150,000 to Boots on the Ground
- $611,000 to the Affordable Housing Trust
Capital Investment highlights include:
- $3 million each for parks, recreation centers, health centers and facilities and fleet facilities
- An expansion to $4 million for safety measures and funding for road repairs
- A funding expansion to $3 million for sidewalk and hillside steep repairs
- $2.6 million in public safety facility improvements
- $3.4 million for a new fire training tower
- $2 million to support the relocation of the regional safety complex
- $5 million for expanded broadband internet access
- Increased funding to $4 million to expand the Green Cincinnati Plan
- $7 million to work with The Port and REDI Cincinnati to attract high tech manufacturing
