Choco Mucho snapped a two-game skid in the PVL All-Filipino Conference after surviving a marathon against Farm Fresh, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12,  Thursday night at PhilSports Arena.

“We’re happy with our win, even though we know we still have some shortcomings; we managed to secure the victory,” coach Dante Alinsunurin said.

“Although we expected that Farm Fresh would put up a strong fight, for us, it was really about working together—not just the coaches but also the players. Our communication needed to be in sync,” Alinsunurin added.

The Flying Titans improved to a 3-3 record thanks to Sisi Rondina’s 26 points, all but one from attacks, in a performance that also featured 13 excellent digs and 13 excellent receptions that allowed Choco Mucho to end its assignments this year the right way.

“I’m happy because we got the win, but there’s still a lot we need to work on, especially focusing on our weaknesses—most especially mine,” Rondina said. “I was nervous in the fifth set because my legs were starting to cramp up, but with the help of my teammates and our determination and eagerness to win, we pushed through.”

Three more Titans ended up in twin digits with Kat Tolentino’s 18 points built on 10 attacks, six blocks and two aces while Isa Molde and Cherry Nunag each came up with 10 points hugely because of Mars Alba’s 25 excellent sets with a lone point coming from an ace.

“My motivation for this game was trusting my teammates and the coaches’ system,” Alba said. “Coming off two losses, we wanted to win before the break so we can return next year with boosted confidence.”

Thang Ponce showed her defense with 15 excellent digs in the two hour and 25 minute duel.

Trisha Tubu almost matched her career-best performance with 31 points out of 28 attacks, two blocks and an ace but it was not enough to stop the Foxies from dropping to a 2-3 record before the holidays.

Setter Louie Romero tossed 20 excellent sets to set up two more from Farm Fresh to double digits in Caitlin Viray who contributed 15 points and Alyssa Bertolano 10 points apart from 12 excellent digs and 19 excellent receptions.

The Foxies, who will open the continuation of the league on Jan. 18 versus winless Nxled also at PhilSports Arena, were doomed by 36 errors.
