SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s a chilly start to the work week in KELOLAND, but warmer days will soon return this week in KELOLAND.

Yesterday’s highs were in the 60s across the region, but we won’t be nearly that warm today with the passage of a cold front the past 12 hours.

That front has moved through the region dry, with no rain or snow anywhere near KELOLAND.

Four inch soil temperatures are starting the week in the lower 40s across much of KELOLAND. We expect these numbers to rise over the coming days with above normal temperatures in the forecast.

Highs today will stay in the mid 40s in the Sioux Falls area, which is several degrees below normal.

Highs will likely stay in the upper 30s across the far northeast today. But the weather will start changing tomorrow as southeast winds increase across the region. Temperatures will be warmer across the board, with 50s and 60s widespread. A few showers are expected late tomorrow in the far west, a trend that will spread east into Wednesday. The showers will be scattered at best and temperatures will likely hold in the 60s.

Be aware of the potential for stronger NW winds by Wednesday and Thursday. Some of the gusts could be 25-40 mph during those days.

Here are the details of the forecast.

Those lower 70s by the weekend may not be warm enough. We could easily see upper 70s or lower 80s again by the end of the 7day forecast.
