SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A popular winter sports destination in Sioux Falls is set to host a local concert series.
Great Bear Ski Valley is preparing for its very first Chill at the Hill.
“Chill at the Hill is a couple Wednesdays this month where we’re going to have some live music and food trucks, open up the bar, just an opportunity for people to come out to the Bear in the summertime and enjoy the place,” Great Bear Ski Valley Director of Communications Alexa Jerstad said.
Chill at the Hill will feature a different local musician every Wednesday for three consecutive weeks, beginning this Wednesday with Brady Wrede.
“He’s a local folk artist. We’re just excited to be able to connect with some local musicians and support them, and bring them out to Great Bear,” Jerstad said.
“A lot of my music will either make you clap along, sing along, or cry along, one of the three,” Sioux Falls musician Brady Wrede said.
Wrede has been playing locally full-time for a few years.
“I like to write a lot of songs that come from just my stories that I’ve experienced throughout life and some of those are good, some of those are sad, but it’s usually a good time and people always seem to connect to the music,” Wrede said.
In addition to music, Chill at the Hill will offer a new food truck each week.
“We’re starting with Clifford’s Doggone Cart so hot dogs and we’re going to have 605 Island Guy and Marc O’s Festival Foods, so a variety of different culinary things to try,” Jerstad said.
As for the mosquitoes…
“The lodge will be open, we’ll have plenty of space inside, in the AC, but the parks department also takes good care of their parks spraying regularly, so just bring your bug spray and come out and have a good time,” Jerstad said.
Chill at the Hill is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Wednesday through July 24th.
