ARLINGTON, Texas — The Chicago White Sox came to terms with 20 of their 21 selections from the 2024 draft, including first-round pick Hagen Smith.

The team announced the signings Tuesday.

Smith, who was the No. 5 overall pick, received an $8 million signing bonus. Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports the figure breaks Brendan McKay’s record ($7,005,000 with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2017) for a left-handed pitcher.

The 20-year-old Smith went 9-2 with a 2.04 ERA, .144 opponents average, 0.89 WHIP and 161 strikeouts in 16 starts with Arkansas this season.

The team also signed eight undrafted free agents in right-handed pitchers Colton McIntosh (University of Washington) and Gray Thomas (University of Oklahoma), catchers Jorge Corona (Louisiana Tech University) and Grant Magill (Indiana State University) and infielders Bryce Eblin (University of Alabama), Alec Makarewicz (North Carolina State University), Miguel Santos (Dallas Baptist University) and Grant Smith (University of Kentucky).

The lone draft pick unsigned is their 20th-round selection, Myles Bailey. The first baseman from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Fla., is headed to Florida State.
