MITCHELL – Julie Eppard, a former educator at Lyman and Chamberlain and current athletic director at Chester Area, has been named as Athletic Director of the Year by the South Dakota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the first time the honor has gone to a female.

Eppard also is the first South Dakota female athletic director to receive the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Award of Merit.

Eppard has been the athletic director and sixth- through 12th-grade principal at Chester Area since 2013.  She is a former Region Principal of the Year and Athletic Director of the year.  Eppard is the region chair for volleyball, golf and track & field.
