Today ahead of Trump’s fly-in to Mosinee, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler joined Katelyn Lang, local reproductive rights advocate, and local business owner Dr. Ming Tao Jiang to slam Donald Trump’s extreme Project 2025 agenda to give Trump more control over Wisconsinites’ daily lives, including by banning abortion nationwide and undermining the independence of the Department of Justice — all while raising taxes on middle class families by $3,900 and cutting Social Security and Medicare.
Speakers underscored Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda to give Trump virtually unchecked power and rule as a dictator on “day one”. Vance has said Project 2025 has some “good ideas” and will rubber stamp Trump’s extreme agenda that would threaten Wisconsinites’ rights and freedoms, hurt the middle class, and raise costs for families.
It’s a stark contrast from Vice President Harris’ New Way Forward agenda that will protect reproductive freedom, strengthen our democracy, and ensure every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead.
“[Project 2025] would rig the system for Trump and his billionaire donors, while raising costs for middle class families by nearly $4,000 per year,” said Ben Wikler. “I don’t know many Wisconsin families that can afford to lose an extra $4,000 per year – but that’s what a second Trump presidency would mean for all of us.”
“Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda pose a threat not only to my business, but to all Wisconsin small businesses,” said Dr. Ming Tao Jiang, owner of Marathon Ginseng Gardens. “Trump is running on a backwards economic plan that would decimate the economy, kill businesses, and raise costs on typical middle-class families by nearly $4,000 a year.”
“Every year, my neighbors flood the streets in support of families like my own. We call this tradition the ‘Walk of Hope,’ and its goal is to raise awareness for couples struggling with infertility,” said Katelyn Lang. “I believe that this community supports couples’ access to IVF, and will reject people like Trump and JD Vance who seek to limit it. Vice President Harris shares the values of this community, and her campaign embodies the hope that this tradition is named after.”
