SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A former player for the South Dakota football team shared a photo of former North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz wearing some Coyote red on Tuesday.

Jack Cochrane, a former Coyote standout and member of the Kansas City Chiefs, posted a photo of Wentz, also a member of the Chiefs, in a red South Dakota long sleeve shirt.

“Cj_wentz11 was always a yote at heart,” Cochrane posted on his Instagram page. He also said “s/o (shoutout) @sdcoyotesfb.”

On Saturday, the Coyotes needed two touchdowns in the final five minutes to rally past No. 1-ranked NDSU 29-28 at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. The Coyotes clinched their first-ever share of the Missouri Valley Football Conference title and earned the No. 4 seed in the FCS playoffs.

Cochrane is in his third season with the Chiefs and has two solo tackles this season in eight games.

Wentz signed with the Chiefs this year as a backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes.
