CARMEL, Ind. — A man accused of murdering his ex-wife in Georgia over the weekend was arrested in Carmel Monday.

According to the Marietta Police Department, officers were called on June 16 to the 400 block of Williams Drive after receiving reports of a possible stabbing. Dispatch was notified by concerned coworkers that 42-year-old Samantha Woolery had not come to work.

MPD said a group of coworkers arrived and found Samantha lying on the floor inside the apartment with “visible cuts” and that she was unresponsive. The door leading to the apartment was closed but unlocked when they arrived.

The group of coworkers immediately contacted 911. MPD said officers arrived and began investigating. Detectives concluded the woman was attacked and fatally stabbed inside her apartment that night.

Detectives soon identified 49-year-old Mickey Anthony Woolery, the victim’s ex-husband, as the suspect in the case. Detectives continued gathering evidence and secured search warrants to formally charge Mickey with felony counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and malice murder.

As the investigation continued, MPD said detectives understood that Mickey had departed Georgia and returned to his primary residence in Carmel. This led to a collaboration featuring both police departments, including Carmel’s SWAT team, to capture Mickey after searching multiple addresses.

At one point during the search, MPD said Mickey reportedly tried to flee from officers on foot he was apprehended a short time later.

Mickey is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail while he awaits tradition to Georgia.
