CANTON, S.D. (KELO) — The streets of Canton were filled with cars food trucks and people this afternoon. From trucks to bikes to vintage cars they had it all.
Bringing back the Canton car show has been a passion for many.
“When I started my position with the chamber, I was I was asking the community, what do you want to see us do and they said, Bring back the car show. So, I’ve been very passionate about doing that,” Lisa Hinker
For Canton resident Terry Dozark, he’s been consistent with attending the car show
“I’ve been coming to the Canton car show since the beginning. The very first one when they had a behind-the-wheel. And yeah, I’ve been here all the time and I’m a little taller, and I like to support the city,” Dozark said.
Not only does it give people the opportunity to show off their cars, it is also great for the city to come together.
“It’s a very good for the town. It’s very good for identity. It introduces a lot of brand new people that never been here before. And they’re here today to see all the cars,” Bernie Tyrrell
Not only is the Canton car show a way to show off cars just like this one, it’s also a way for people to make new friends.
“Well, we come for the cars, but we actually come for the people. I’ve got to know a lot of great friends through the car shows. We have certain shows we show up at and enjoy each other and have a good time,” Dozark said.
Some are excited to one day have a car of their own to show.
“It didn’t cost us anything. Great show. There’s all kinds of cars, all kinds of people,” Terry Dozark
“Make sure you put it on your calendar for next year,” Lisa Hinker
In total, the car show had around 300 registered vehicles,
as well as over 100 people. They have started the planning for next year with the date of July 28.
