SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Details for how much money election campaigns have raised and spent by Oct. 16 will soon be released.

The deadline for all statewide candidates, legislative candidates, statewide political action
committees, statewide political parties, county political parties, ballot question committees to file a campaign finance report before the election was 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21.

Some reports have been filed, including various legislative district races across the state. However, most are not yet available or updated on the secretary of state’s website.

As of 3 p.m. October 22, many of the Statewide Ballot Question Committee reports had not yet been filed.

KELOLAND News reached out to the Secretary of State’s office for a timeline on when the reports will be available and have not heard back at the time of publishing.

South Dakota law requires “Contributions received from individuals of more than $100.00 in a calendar year shall be itemized and include name, mailing address and amount of contribution.”

South Dakota’s campaign finance limits vary from PAC, Statewide Candidate, Ballot Question, Legislative and County candidates and Political Parties.
