RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — Brandon Valley suffered a one point loss to Mitchell in last year’s state title game, but they got their trophy, claiming a 53-45 win over the Kernels this year.
The win marks Brandon Valley’s first state championship since 2019.
The Lynx and Kernels played a title battle throughout. The game was tied at 11 after one and Mitchell led by just two at halftime.
Brandon Valley would retake the lead at 36-34 after three quarters. The Lynx would carry that momentum into the fourth.
The largest lead came in the fourth quarter for Brandon Valley as they rolled on to the eight point win.
Briggs Knutson scored a game high 17 points, hitting five three pointers. Landon Dulaney added 13.
Gavin Hinker posted a team high 15 for Mitchell, while Markus Talley added 13.
