BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A man was fatally shot in Bloomington Thursday night, the Bloomington Police Department confirmed on Friday.
According to BPD, officers were called around 10:28 p.m. to a residence on the 1000 block of N Summit Street, on the report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, police located an adult male — later identified as 48-year-old Brian Thacker — with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
BPD said lifesaving measures were administered, but Thacker was pronounced deceased after being transported to an area hospital.
Investigators said they collected evidence, including the gun that police believe the suspect used in the shooting. Per BPD, all involved persons have been identified and are believed to have known one another.
Further details, including the conditions that led up to the shooting and potential suspect information, have not been revealed at this time.
BPD said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
