A Massachusetts boy is being recognized for his actions over Labor Day weekend, which helped save the life of an 8-year-old girl in New Hampshire.Dennis Dantas, a 12-year-old, was at the Adventure Bound Camping Resort in New Hampton on Sept. 3 when he noticed the girl underwater in the pool.He then sprang into action, picking up the girl and pulling her out of the water. He then shouted for help, which alerted nearby adults that the girl was drowning.Nicole Allen and her sister Heather Diaz, a registered nurse who lost her 2-year-old son in a drowning the month prior, began tandem CPR on the girl. The girl was then taken to a hospital, but was conscious and breathing on her own by the time she got in the ambulance.Allen and Diaz certainly deserve a lot of credit for saving the girl, but Allen also gave a lot of credit to Dantas when she spoke with sister station WMUR in Manchester, New Hampshire.”He definitely saved her life, because if he didn’t get there in time and alert everybody … no way,” Allen said. On Tuesday, New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey traveled to Beverly Middle School in Massachusetts to present Dantas with an award for excellence in fire and life safety for the boy’s heroic actions that September day.”Without your actions, that little girl wouldn’t be with us today. So I want to congratulate you for a job well done,” Toomey told Dantas as he presented him with the award.A GoFundMe page was established to help Diaz’s family in the wake of her son’s death in August.
