A knife-wielding attacker fatally stabbed a teenage boy and seriously injured four young adults Saturday on the Apple River in Wisconsin, police said.

A 52-year-old male suspect was arrested by the St. Croix County sheriff’s office in the village of Somerset, police said. There is no longer a danger to the community.

Cops said the 17-year-old boy was tubing on the river with one woman and three men, all in their early 20s, Minneapolis CBS affiliate WCCO reported. The attack took place just 30 miles east and across the state border from the Twin Cities.

Police said the attacker was part of a different group tubing on the river at the same time, according to WCCO. Authorities have not publicly speculated on a motive.

The suspect ran off but was quickly tracked and arrested without incident, ABC News reported.

Cops were still investigating Saturday afternoon but also had to divert tube traffic from the popular but hard-to-access area of the Apple River where the attack took place.
