SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Quarterback Aidan Bouman said in a social media post Thursday that he will return to the University of South Dakota football team next season.
The Coyotes finished the season 11-3 and reached the FCS Semifinals for the first time in program history. USD lost 31-17 to top-ranked Montana State on Dec. 21.
There was speculation that Bouman may enter the transfer portal or end his collegiate career. He has been involved in college football since his redshirt freshman season at Iowa State University in 2020.
Bouman said in his X post that he had a couple of emotional days and “It’s made me realize on thing that there is unfinished business in Vermillion.”
Bouman, from Buffalo, Minnesota, passed for nearly 3,000 yards with 19 touchdowns this season. He completed 214 passes on 312 attempts and had only four interceptions.
He joined the USD program in 2022 where he played in six games. He became a starter and played in 13 games in the 2023 season.
Bouman was at Iowa State University for 2021 after he spent the 2020 season as a redshirt freshman on the team.
Bouman is the son of former NFL quarterback Todd Bouman, who played for the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.
