BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A Bloomington man was arrested after he reportedly dealt drugs to a man who later died.

Dustin Lambert was charged with Dealing In a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, a Level 2 Felony.

According to court documents, on Nov. 4, 2022, at 9:37 p.m., a woman called 911 and requested that officers check on the welfare of a man in Monroe County. When police arrived at the home, they could see a man slumped over on the kitchen floor. Emergency personnel aided the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Jan. 9, 2023, the victim’s cell phone was delivered to the High Tech Crimes Unit at the Indiana University Police Department for examination and extraction. A report was conducted that found text messages between the victim and Lambert.

According to the messages, Lambert wanted to reportedly meet the victim at a graveyard. The victim sent a message that said, “I have the green bills” and “$220.” The victim allegedly told the suspect, “Okay… so hit me about 4 times as hard as I thought bro.”

The victim’s cause of death was from mixed ethanol, fentanyl, heroin, and hydrocodone Toxicity.
