DELPHI, Ind. — The highly anticipated trial of the man accused of killing two Delphi teens is four months away. Richard Allen’s trial will begin in Carroll County on Oct. 14 and run through Nov. 15, per an order issued in May.
With the trial looming, bikers gathered to honor the two girls Allen allegedly killed in Delphi in 2017 — Abby Williams and Libby German. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers and donors, 127 people rode 108 miles in remembrance of the girls.
“It puts the fact it could happen in your backyard,” ride leader Ryan Browning said of the girls’ deaths. “Everyone always thinks, ‘Not in my town, not in my neighborhood,’ but it can happen anywhere.”
Saturday’s ride traversed several Indiana cities, including Logansport, Winamac and Monticello. The riders and families stopped at the two cemeteries where the girls are buried before the end of the event.
“I have a daughter and three sons, so I can’t even imagine my daughter,” rider Mark Dussault said. “I can’t imagine something like this happening. It touches to the core, right to the heart.”
